Has Marvel And Sony Come To An Agreement

After the Hacking of Sony`s computer in November 2014, emails were released between Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chair Amy Pascal and President Doug Belgrade, saying Sony planned to “rejuvenate” the Spider-Man franchise by developing an animated comedy film starring Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Sony executives are expected to continue discussing the project during a discussion on several Spider-Man spin-off films at a summit in January 2015. [6] In February 2015, Sony and Marvel Studios announced a new partnership that would produce the next Spider-Man movie for Sony and integrate the character into the MCU. Sony then appeared to double the report in its own statement on the subject, suggesting that Feige was too busy with other projects to fully engage in Spider-Man. UPDATE: A Sony representative who spoke with io9 said it is a production loan, and negotiations between Marvel and Sony are still ongoing. In addition, Variety has learned from its own source that another agreement could be reached.

In August 2018, Sony was actively planning to cross Spider-Man with its own Marvel movies, describing the character and Venom as “already in the same universe …
